The Big Easel rescheduled

by Wynce Nolley

Due to the inclement weather forecast for Friday/Saturday, The Big Easel art show has been rescheduled for June.

The Big Easel art show, held each year at River Ranch's Town Square to showcase and sell local arts and crafts, has been postponed to June 7 due to the inclement weather expected to hit this Saturday at the height of the event.

"[A]lthough chance of rain for Saturday has gone down a bit, the rain that does happen will either be when artists are setting up in the morning or midday, which is our prime shopping time. And wind is an issue we have to consider," says Jeffrey McCullough, who coordinates the Big Easel, in an email sent out this morning to the event's patrons.

McCullough notes that this last minute postponement could be a blessing in disguise as last year's event also had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather but still managed to become the most successful Big Easel in the event's history.

Those hoping to peruse the art galleries' wares in time for Mother's Day are still in luck as they can still visit the Big Easel Preview Show taking place on Saturday, May 10, from 3-8 p.m. at the Lounge Gallery, located at 402 S. Buchanan St., behind Tsunami in Downtown Lafayette.

The Big Easel will now take place on Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (now one hour longer), at the Town Square in River Ranch. For more information and updates find the Big Easel on Facebook.
