With the summer heat comes exciting vacations and tropical-themed parties. MidSouth Bank opened its new Johnston Street branch Hawaiian-style with music by The Tropic Hoppers and two tropical vacation giveaways. More than 200 guests turned out to celebrate, and children were treated to George the Juggler, Magic Mike Entertainment, Magic with Ken, caricature sketches by Adrian Fulton and carnival-style games. Tropic Hoppers' steel drums lent the ambiance, while MidSouth's commercial lending team barbecued hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage poboys. The event culminated with a grand prize winner of a Carnival Cruise for four to Cozumel for seven days, in addition to a drawing for a Hawaiian vacation to Maui. Party Girl will gladly tag along with the winners for photos!

On the topic of traveling, each spring Episcopal School of Acadiana's graduating class ships off with some faculty chaperones for a two-week tour of Europe. That's graduating in style! This year, students hopped from London to Stratford, Canterbury and Paris with day trips to Versailles, Chartres, Oxford and Calais. Monuments on the tour included The Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, and students spent evenings watching plays, musicals and concerts. Très cultural!

That ESA graduating class didn't stop when it got back. After returning from Europe, mothers and daughters gathered at à la carte for a formal luncheon May 16. Black toile invites decorated with pink gingham read, "Just for the girlsâ?¦ Let's have lunch one last time!" Hosted by Debra Salter Hise and her daughter Taylor, pink perfection was chosen as the color for the balloon bouquets, showcased in Art Deco vases. Guests were served pink crushed lemonade upon arrival, and Upper School Head Lynn Blevins led the blessing. Guests left with a few last words of advice from Dean Anne Tate, in addition to mother-daughter photos taken and placed in pink "party-pic" stands engraved with ESA's initials. Graduating girls and proud moms won't forget that lunch! Good luck grads.
