Maness wrestles gator, gets Palin backing
MAY 9 What with all the talk about Mary Landrieu and Bill Cassidy (and the Koch brothers, of course) sometimes we forget about the gun-luvin' and (apparently) gator-wrasslin' Rob Maness, a retired Air Force colonel who's also running. Here's a CNN post about the latest on his campaign, including an ad showing him "tying up an alligator" and an endorsement from Sarah Palin.

MAY 9 Salon reports on a new study of charter school mismanagement across the country in this post. MAY 9 Here's an interesting post from a Picayune writer who just moved to Louisiana six months ago. To kick off her first festival season, she visited our Festival International and then Jazz Fest the following weekend. She's compared the two here - and decided FI is more to her taste. She reminds him of the character in Wag the Dog who launched a phony war to cover his boss' political rear end.

WaPo gives us our Governor's schedule
MAY 9 If you don't feel like playing Where's Waldo with our state's chief executive for the next couple weeks, you can check out this post in the Washington Post that give us a run-down of Bobby Jindal's travel itinerary. Jindal claims he hasn't decided on a 2016 run, but the WaPo isn't buying it.

Brewing insurance dispute has far-reaching effects
MAY 9 There's a fight brewing between Louisiana's auto body shops and the big insurance companies, blogger Tom Aswell says. In his usual fashion, Aswell has unearthed a trove of details about the "after market" auto parts issue. Anybody with a car should probably pay attention.
