MAY 23 There are tons of pointless lists on social media, but this one is truly a funny one. It's a list of the top searches, by state. Louisiana's list is topped by "Golden Girls." (The story says the TV show, but one wonders if it is the LSU dancing troupe. But we digress.) Either way it's funny, but it's nothing compared to Texas, Georgia and Delaware.

Jindal an ineffective "distant figure"
MAY 23 This post by Tyler Bridges on The Lens contains some of the strongest language yet from (non-Democrat) Louisiana politicians about Bobby Jindal. In particular, Chas Roemer is calling the governor's lack of participation in state governance "offensive." It's definitely worth a read.

Beam: our ethics laws are 'toothless tigers'
MAY 23 Louisiana has great ethics laws -- at least that's the story -- but columnist Jim Beam isn't buying it. The exceptions to the rules result in a "devious exercise" which shields names and details from public scrutiny -- and public backlash, he says.

'...failure was not an option' for White
MAY 23 Blogger Crazy Crawfish is writing about the (alleged) number-massaging that is going on over at the state Education department. Crawfish is going farther than most, and suggesting that a criminal investigation needs to be launched.

MAY 23 ThinkProgress.Org gives Louisiana star treatment in this post, describing recent legislative actions on reproductive freedom as a "war on women." Louisiana's not alone in this strategy, but "exemplified" it this year, the post argues.

Fracking opponents chalk up (small) victory
MAY 23 Here's the latest on the attempts to conduct fracking oil extraction in St.Tammany Parish, from the Picayune. Opponents have made some headway, and can call it a small victory that the comment period on the plan has been extended, the Pic reports.

MAY 23 Phil Robertson can't stop talking about gay people. (Maybe he needs to get together with Rod Dreher?) The head of a West Monroe family making buckets of money off reality TV is in the news again (this post is in the New York Daily News) after giving an Easter Sunday sermon that celebrated the miracle of Jesus' resurrection by hating on homosexuals. Nice!
