JUN 16 Although there is a lot of beefiness in the Avengers crew, Tom Hiddleston's Loki always seems to attract the girls. This post on MTV tells us that Loki's Louisiana following could get a chance for a brush with greatness -- the actor has signed on to play Hank Williams in a new biopic that will be filming in Louisiana.

MANN: WHY IS IT EASIER TO GET INTO PRISON?
JUN 16 Blogger Bob Mann wants to know why it is easier to get into prison than into college in Louisiana. Our state's tendency to slash higher education funding, while at the same time shoring up prisons and passing laws to send them more customers, is inexplicable, Mann opines. What kind of future are our "leaders" trying to build, anyway?

NYT STORY ON ANXIOUS CRAYFISH - NO LIE
JUN 16 And from the WTH department, here's a story in the New York Times about a French study of "crayfish" and how they are anxious. Scientists are using these anxiety traits to study anxiety in humans - and it turns out that giving these "crayfish" some Valium helps. (Well, duh.) You know what might help? Maybe these people need to stop worrying about the crayfish psyche, and boil them and eat them. That would help everybody relax.

JUN 16 NOLA Mayor Mitch Landrieu made his first comments about the law recently signed by Gov. This post on ABC news ranks the smartest and dumbest states in the union, based on the short messages posted by their twits, and we came out on top. There's another ranking in this article, which assures us that we can't read, either. Yay!

JINDAL EFFIGY PELTED WITH TOMATOES
JUN 16 This post on the NOLA Defender blog gives us photographic and video record of Bobby Jindal's "visit" to the Creole Tomato Festival a couple weeks ago in NOLA. Actually it was an effigy named "Guvna Swindle" and he was a pretty popular target for squishy versions of the featured fruit.

CRAZY COUNCIL MEETING IN WINNSBORO
JUN 16 The mayor of Winnsboro really, really doesn't want to give the city council the city's financial statements from April and May. This post on The Franklin Sun tells the story of a council meeting during which the mayor had a councilman escorted out in handcuffs - because he asked for the statements and wouldn't stop asking. Dang!
