103,000 Words and Counting … Book Signings

The story of publishing my story

[Editor's note: Krista Richmond is the online engagement manager for United Way of Acadiana and the author of the recently published novel Spotlight. Join us each Monday for a glimpse at her journey from the first draft to the bookshelf and read the story behind the story.]

People my age are probably the last generation who had to write research papers without the help of Google or Wikipedia.

If I needed to know something, I couldn't simply ask Siri. I had to go to the library in my hometown, dig through the card catalog and (sometimes) load microfiche into the viewer.

I learned to love spending time at the library, and that hasn't changed as an adult. In fact, I was there a few days ago returning Emily Giffin's latest. (She's such a incredible writer!)

It's important to continue to support local libraries. And on June 22, you have an opportunity to not only support Lafayette's South Regional Library, but also to support local authors - including yours truly!

I'll be participating in Author's Alley from 1:30 - 4 p.m. June 22 at South Regional Library. I'll be signing and selling copies of Spotlight there, and other local authors will be there, as well, with their books.

I hope to see you then!
