CB: THESE NANNIES ARE FORCING HIM TO GET A PASSPORT
JUN 24 Blogger CB Forgotston is grumbling again about the political grandstanding that is blocking Louisiana people from a federally-recognized ID card that will allow us to board planes. Without them, we'd have to show a passport to fly to Houston. He wants to know: (and this is an excellent question) Exactly what information about us are these folks "protecting" from the feds?

ASWELL: JINDAL GOING WITH OXYMORONIC CAMPAIGN
JUN 24 Blogger Tom Aswell takes his big shiny magnifying glass to Bobby Jindal's "revolution" speech this past weekend. He picks apart what Jindal says for us - so that we don't have to. Most of it was contradictory, Tom says, leading Tom to opine that Bobby is building a moronic presidential platform. Oh wait -- oxymoronic. Yeah. Oxymoronic.

GILL: VITTER'S RECORD SHOULD KEEP HIM HOME
JUN 24 For most guys, David Vitter's problems would mean death to a political career, columnist James Gill writes in this post. He's rated ineffective at his job, has zero charm or charisma, can't get anything passed and played a central role in a prostitution scandal, Gill says, and yet he's still a viable candidate for governor. (What does that say about us?)

BIG SURPRISE: DONALD TRUMP IS A JERK
JUN 24 Here's an interesting post from LaPolitics about a meeting (well, kinda) between Rob Maness, a tea party-ish Senate candidate from North Louisiana, and Donald Trump, real estate mogul and multi-directional comb-over consultant. Not exactly a shocker, but just in case you were wondering, Trump doesn't just play a jerk on TV.

KINGFISH: JINDAL CLUELESS, AS USUAL
JUN 24 Jindal's "revolution" talk is more of the usual, blogger Lamar Parmentel writes on the Daily Kingfish. He's right about people being tired of Washington, but he's wrong about why, Lamar says.

NOLA GETTING NEW BUILDINGS WITH NO SOUL
JUN 24 Sure, New Orleans is getting some big, shiny new developments, but are they anything but boring boxes? Nathan Robinson thinks not, and lays out his argument against this "terrible architecture" in this post in The Lens. The architects who designed some of these "cubes" actually offer "an open defense of ugliness," he adds. There's no attractiveness, but worse, there's no soul.

CAN THE LEVEE BOARD SUIT SURVIVE?
JUN 24 With a tie vote last week, the levee board suit against Big Oil "lives to die another day," columnist Clancy DuBos writes in this post on Gambit. It probably won't be long until Gov. Jindal accomplishes his aim of killing it, but that's not the limit of the damage Jindal seems bent on doing, DuBos writes.

TEACHERS' VIEWS ON COMMON CORE
JUN 24 Everybody seems to be an expert in education these days, especially when it comes to Common Core. But one group is rarely, if ever, heard on the subject, and they probably know more about it than anyone else. Blogger Mike Deshotels offers opinions from three teachers in this post.
