EatLafayette Dish of the Day: Masala's lamb chops

by Kari Walker

An aromatic tomato and onion gravy complete this savory feast

Indian cuisine is all about spice profiles and creating depth of flavor without an overly rich taste. The lamb chops Masala are such a dish to dig into - for $20, you get bone-in lamb chops in a tomato and caramelized onion gravy with a side of Basmati rice. You'll want to savor every last drop of the sauce, so order a side of garlic naan bread for dipping.

If you're not in to lamb, check out the tandoori grilled meats selection - you can't go wrong with one of these classic Indian dishes. Masala boasts an extensive vegetarian menu as well. Try the samosas which are crispy stuffed pastries that are filled with potatoes and peas and come served with a fresh mint chutney. At $5, this makes a great appetizer or a quick bite for one.

There are daily lunch specials during the week and you'll notice the menu lets guests know if a dish is friendly to those with restricted dietary needs - Vegans and gluten-free folks, rejoice.

You'll receive a free rice pudding with the purchase of any entrée until the end of EatLafayette.
