Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers opens on Johnston.
After about eight months of renovations, the new Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers restaurant has opened at 3151 Johnston St. at the corner of Doucet Road near the Grand 16 Theatre.

UL Lafayette alumni Todd Moffatt and William Maisano will offer a variety of hand-crafted pizzas, subs, salads, calzones, plus a wide selection of craft beers in a psychedelic rock-n-roll setting where the short-lived Bako's, the short-lived Serranos Salsa Company, the short-lived Toucan's and the awful, tacky and thankfully short-lived Bootie's once gasped for air (and money and customers).
Some say Moffatt and Maisano were crazy to open in what many in Lafayette believe is a "cursed corner" - none of their predecessors, after all, survived much less thrived at the location.
