EatLafayette Dish of the Day: Johnson's Boucaniere's Country rib platter

by Kari Walker

Smoked meat, fresh sides and the best boudin around

Take a trip downtown, follow your nose to Johnson's Boucaniere and let your stomach do the talking. You can't go wrong with any of the smoked meats-galore at this popular lunch destination, but there is one dish in particular that keeps IND Eats coming back for more: The country rib platter.

Depending on how hungry you are, there's an option of the one rib platter for $8.75 or two for $11.95, and your order comes jam-packed with two sides and your choice between a scoop of jambalaya or a link of boudin in addition to the sides.

If a Sunday-style lunch doesn't suit a midweek meal for your appetite, check out the variety of sandwiches made of smoked pork, chicken and brisket. The lamb pastrami Reuben offers a little lunchtime luxury on Rye - lamb, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and a housemade cucumber-yogurt sauce keep things cool for summer.

Ask about the EatLafayette special and you can get a pork sandwich, chips and a canned soda for $6.96.
