EatLafayette Dish of the Day: Village Café's Summer salad

by Kari Walker

Greens, crisp bacon and fresh corn topped with a creamy bleu cheese dressing

If your looking for something light and fresh with all the flavors of summer, head over to Village Café and check out some of the new menu additions. Today's dish of the day is the summer salad and it's bursting with farmers market flavors - mixed greens, house cured bacon, tomatoes, avocado, fresh corn and then finished with a creamy buttermilk bleu cheese dressing.

Also new to the menu and worth a try are the fresh seared scallops with truffled corn purée, quinoa tabbouleh and candied shiitake mushrooms.

Both of these dishes deserve a chilled glass of white wine - stop by Village on Wednesdays to take advantage of 15 percent off bottles of wine.
