GILL: VITTER IS TWEEDLEDEE TO JINDAL'S TWEEDLEDUM
AUG 8 Columnist James Gill is aiming his rapier wit at David Vitter again. This time, he's poking fun at the Senator's "dithering" about Common Core. Vitter was agin it, now he's fur it. That's in contrast to his arch nemesis, Bobby Jindal, was fur it and now's agin it, Gill says. Either way, they're dithering, Gill says.

ABUSE OF POWER - FOR A MOON PIE
AUG 8 If you're going to abuse your power (whatever power that might be) as a Baker council member, maybe you want to shoot a little higher. This post on 33 News out of Baton Rouge is about a member of the Baker City Council who was arrested for eating a Moon Pie in a store - and refusing to pay for it. When the proprietor asked for payment, the councilman allegedly took out a badge. Dang.

LIES BY OMISSION TO GET DRUGS TO KILL INMATE?
AUG 8 The state of Louisiana was in such a rush to kill a death row inmate in January, it bought a pain-killing drug from a Lake Charles hospital to do so, this post on The Lens tells us. The rub is, hospital did not know the drug was to be used to kill someone, and never would have sent it had that been known, the story says. Wow.

ASWELL: DHH HAS A SHREDDING PARTY FOLLOWING SUIT
AUG 8 Here's an interesting post on Louisiana Voice. In it, blogger Tom Aswell is sharing info he got from an insider at the state Department of Health and Hospitals, which is being sued by a former contractor. Since that suit was filed, temporary employees have been at DHH, burning up the shredders, he says.

AUG 8 Here's a post on the National Catholic Reporter about the history of the publication and SNAP - the victims' advocacy group. It is recommended reading by Ray Mouton, the attorney and author who is arguably an authority on the Catholic church pedophile priest scandal. AUG 8 The legal squabbling between a former employee of the LSU Alumni Association and the chief of the organization intensified this week, this post on the Picayune tells us. The former worker is alleging that she (and others) were sexually harassed by the head of the group.

AMONG THE SLOWEST IN THE COUNTRY!
AUG 8 This story in the Washington Post is about a study of how the internet speeds in America stack up. Turns out (big surprise) Louisiana has one of the slowest speeds in the country. Shoot, if Lafayette hadn't been included, we could have won this one!

AUG 8 Jim Brown is blogging about Tricky Dick in this post, remembering Nixon's resignation as well as the former President's visits to Louisiana. There's even a picture here, proving Jim was perfecting the photo bomb long before most of us had even heard of it.
