Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport has rejected a bid by a national women's rights group to place a billboard within the airport highlighting Louisiana's poor record on equality. But the group says it plans to purchase billboards adjacent to the airport to get its message across the tourists travelling to Louisiana. According to WWL, airport officials rejected the application by Ultraviolet citing the billboard's political nature.

Designed (not coincidentally) in Mardi Gras colors, the billboard planned for New Orleans features statistics that include, "Louisiana women are paid $.67 to every man's dollar," "More than 22% of women live in poverty" among others. Louisiana is one of several states targeted by the group for what it calls poor records on women's equality.

"We know politicians spend a lot of time in airports, and they're trying to court businesses to set up headquarters in their states," Chaudhary told The Huffington Post.
