Police say a 56-year-old Lafayette man walking behind a dump truck died when the truck hit him as it was backing up.
Police say a 56-year-old Lafayette man walking behind a dump truck died when the truck hit him as it was backing up.
Lafayette Police Cpl. Nicole Benoit says Douglas W. Perroncel walked behind the truck on a lot around 3:30 p.m. Monday and was hit by the bumper.
Benoit says investigators do not know why Perroncel walked behind the truck. Perroncel was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.
