Do not attempt to adjust your screen: That's a Ferris wheel at Parc Sans Souci Downtown. A crew began erecting the 25-foot mini-wheel late morning Friday in anticipation of the evening's Hottest Night of the Year party at the park.

Assuming tonight doesn't become the wettest night of the year - Lafayette Consolidated Government is distributing sand bags today in anticipation of heavy rains - the event runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and features canned music from Hot 107.9 and live music from The Flamethrowers. And cold beer.

It's free. Keep your fingers crossed for Mama Nature's blessings.
