Rasmussen poll shows Cassidy leading by 3 points.
A new Rasmussen Reports poll shows U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy with a slight edge over incumbent U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
The poll found Cassidy, a 56-year-old physician and congressman since 2009, leading Landrieu 44 percent to 41 percent in the Senate race.
Landrieu, 58, is seeking her fourth six-year term. The poll found 9 percent supporting other candidates.
Another 6 percent of those polled were undecided, according to the telephone survey of 800 likely voters conducted Sept. 2 and Sept. 3. The poll had an error of plus or minus four percentage points.
