SEP 9 Here's an exhaustive piece on coastal loss by Brett Anderson in Matter Magazine. There is lots of history here, but it's not the usual statistic-heavy story. It's a something else: a eulogy for a "terminal patient," told by someone who actually stood on a piece of land "in imminent danger of fading into oblivion" and told us its story.

SEP 9 Good news! The duck people, disappointed in the guy they put into Congress last fall, have provided us with another candidate, LaPolitics tells us in this post (and this one "came from the loins" of the sister of the head duck person, it that's what does it for you.) The duck people have been quiet for a while, but now they've come out guns blazing against Vance McAllister, the post reports.

SEP 9 Blogger Tom Aswell continues his series on PAC contributions to our Congressional delegation here. In this post, he's looking at contributions sent the way of Steve Scalise, who is now Majority Whip (and presumably more interesting to PACs because of that status.)

DEBERRY DOESN'T NEED THE VIDEO
SEP 9 Columnist Jarvis DeBerry says he didn't need video to know that Ray Rice was a big ole jerk, but the video found him anyway. It's interesting that some people were saying they found the video much worse than they imagined, DeBerry says, leaving him to wonder: Was there a good way for Rice to punch his fiancee in the face?

BERRY'S GOT SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL
SEP 9 Jason Brad Berry is writing about the reduction of Mark St. Pierre's sentence in this post. St. Pierre was convicted of bribing members of Ray Nagin's administration. He originally got more time than Nagin did, so Berry -- who broke most of the Nagin corruption stories, whether the "mainstream" media wants to admit that or not - was OK with the reduction.

SEP 9 Edwin Edwards, former governor, ex-con, reality star, living political legend and Congressional candidate, sat down with NOLA Defender to talk about some of the issues. One interesting comment? He's a big supporter of green energy.

SEP 9 If you've been hearing the rumors that the fifth Rambo movie was off, this post on the Picayune will relieve all your fears. Shooting for Rambo 5 (really -- five?) begins here in Louisiana this fall. The post includes a round-up of big projects shooting here now or in the coming months, and there are a bunch of them.
