Stewart Moves Ahead with Parc Lafayette Phase II

by Leslie Turk

High-rise apartment building, parking garage, hotel and retail part of new development.

Developer Glenn Stewart, who as ABiz reports in this month’s Turk File is the new owner of the Westwood Village shopping center, also is moving ahead with his long-planned expansion of his upscale shopping center Parc Lafayette, located at the intersection of Kaliste Saloom Road and Camellia Boulevard.

Lafayette Consolidated Government records indicate that Stewart has divided the 20-acre tract on Camellia Boulevard into six commercial lots. Called Parc Lafayette Phase II, the mixed-use project received preliminary approval from the Planning Commission in mid-October. Stewart envisions a high-rise apartment complex, a parking garage, a hotel and retail (including restaurants) and office spaces, according to LCG records.

Two Stewart entities, Parc Lafayette LLC and Lake Charles Gardens LLC, and Stewart himself purchased the additional 19.4 acres on Camellia Boulevard behind Parc Lafayette for $8.02 million in April, according to Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court records. Saloom LLC and Pine Farm Limited Partnership were the sellers.
The paperwork on the April transaction lists Stewart as the sole member of Lake Charles Gardens LLC, whereas court records dated March 29 that were included in the September sale of Westwood Village to Lake Charles Gardens LLC indicate that it has four members: Glenn Stewart (77.19 percent ownership), Marion Stewart (14.51), Chuck Stewart (4.82) and Estate of C. Stewart (3.48).
