Extravagantly mustachioed Lafayette man popped in child porn sting

A Lafayette man with an alleged taste for child porn was busted Thursday evening during a cyber crime sting launched by the Attorney General's Office.

A Lafayette man with an alleged taste for child porn was busted Thursday evening during a cyber crime sting launched by the Attorney General's Office.

In press release issued Friday, Attorney General Buddy Caldwell credits the Cyber Crime Unit with Thursday night's sting - a group headed by the AG's office with support from the Lafayette Police Department, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, State Police and the Homeland Security Investigations unit.

Daniel E. Reed, a 38-year-old Lafayette man living at 225 Larchwood Drive was the target of Thursday's bust; he was arrested and charged with 20 counts of possessing pornography involving juveniles and faces up to 20 years in prison for each count.

"We are using the latest, most advanced resources available to find and apprehend these cyber criminals," says Caldwell in a prepared statement. "And we will continue to expand our efforts and stay current with the ever-changing technology used by these predators."
