Vinyl Swap returns

by Wynce Nolley

This weekend the Blue Moon Saloon hosts the Fall 2014 Vinyl Swap Meet presented by local record collective Acadiana Vinyl Haul.

Vinyl lovers of all ages are welcome to the Blue Moon Saloon this Sunday for the area's premiere semiannual vinyl collectors' event of the season the Fall 2014 Vinyl Swap Meet where record aficionados from near and far will be buying, selling and trading records from the scarce to the common.

"It's just a bunch of vinyl nerds that get together and swap and sell and buy," says Travis Gauthier of Acadiana Vinyl Haul, which is the group behind the swap meet. "We have sellers coming from New Orleans and from Mobile, but anybody can be seller; we have sellers that just show up."

Expect to find a wide-ranging trove of albums at this weekend's exchange from the collective stockpile of Acadiana Vinyl Haul's near 500 members.

"It's gonna be pretty much everything," says Gauthier. "We've got more than a hundred years of record history, so we've got pretty much all genres and all decades."

The Fall 2014 Vinyl Swap Meet featuring the spinning styles of DJ Ben Moon will be held at Blue Moon Saloon, located at 251 E. Convent St., on Sunday, Sept. 28, from 2 - 6 p.m. Admission is FREE for buyers.
