POLITIFACT RATES CASSIDY AD "PANTS ON FIRE"
SEP 26 The most recent attack ad running the Senate race features Congressman Bill Cassidy wearing a dark suit and a creepy smile while he accuses Mary Landrieu of kicking veterans and helping illegal immigrants. Politifact, the Pulitzer-winning fact-checking site operated by the Tampa Bay Times, examined Cassidy's claims and called them "ridiculous," giving the ad the (not) coveted "Pants on Fire" label.

At issue is the need for several new patrol cars for the city's police department, a television interview and a councilman who, writer Wade Pitre says, is either incompetent or ignorant.

GAMBIT: LOUISIANA CLOUT AT RISK
SEP 26 Gambit is making an interesting argument in this editorial: If Landrieu is defeated and Vitter is elected governor, Louisiana will lose much of its clout in DC. (An interesting argument considering that Vitter's lack of ability to get anything done is legendary, but we digress...) However you feel about incumbents, the argument goes, they do have value in DC.
