No. 1 recruit Greg Monroe makes Top 28 debut

by Nathan Stubbs

The biggest draw to tonight’s Top 28 high school basketball tournament games in the Cajundome is a lanky 6-foot-10-inch forward from Helen Cox High School in Jefferson Parish. Greg Monroe has been consistently rated as the No. 1 high school basketball recruit in the country this year, and recently signed to play next season for perennial college powerhouse Georgetown. Monroe is somewhat of an anomaly for a power forward. Hailed for his versatility, the lefty is known for having quick moves inside as well as being the best passer on his team. Tonight, in his Top 28 debut, his focus will be on leading Helen Cox to the Class 4A state finals. Helen Cox faces Carroll High School in today’s final game at 8 p.m. Click here to view the complete schedule of Top 28 games.
