Voter registration deadline looms

by Walter Pierce

Citizens, you have less than a week to register to vote in the Nov. 4 election. Remember, if you don't vote you can't complain about the outcome. Well, you can but it's kind of hypocritical.

The last day to register to vote in-person at a parish registrar's office is Monday, Oct. 6 at 4:30 p.m. Online registration extends until midnight Monday at GeauxVote.com.

If you're already registered to vote but have questions about the process, you can also find out at your registrar's office what address is tied to your voter registration, where your polling place is on election day and other questions.

Here are some other important dates:

Oct. 21-28* - early voting for primary election

Nov. 4 - primary election (polls open 6 a.m.-8 p.m.)

Nov. 22-29* - early voting for general election

Dec. 6 - general election (polls open 7 a.m.-8 p.m.)

*except Sunday
