Screenwriter Hossein Amini makes a stylish directing debut with this sleek thriller set in Greece and Istanbul, 1962, and adapted from Patricia Highsmith's novel.

Intrigue begins at the Parthenon when wealthy American tourists Chester MacFarland (played byViggo Mortensen) and his young wife Collete (portrayed byKirsten Dunst) meet American expat Rydal, a scammer working as a tour guide.

Instead of becoming his latest marks, the two befriend him, but a murder at the couple's hotel forces the trio to go on the run and creates a precarious bond among them as their newly minted allegiance is put to the test.

The Cane Fire Film Series screens The Two Faces of January on Monday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m., at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, located at 101 W. Vermilion St. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the AcA Box office or by visiting www.AcadianaCenterfortheArts.org
