Raise a pint to TECHE Project

by Walter Pierce

The group's annual fundraiser, Pint Night, goes down Thursday at Pack & Paddle.

Mandolin Annie & The Roosters

If you've pulled 50 tons of crap from Bayou Teche, you've earned a beer. On Thursday at Pack & Paddle beginning at 6 p.m., TECHE Project will host its annual Pint Night to raise funds for its ongoing - and entirely, utterly worthy - efforts to provide educational opportunities to rural communities about the culture, history and ecology of Bayou Teche, a major and vital Acadiana watershed.

TECHE Project also runs programs like the nationally recognized Bayou Teche Paddle Trail, duck nesting and trailhead construction projects and good, old, mundane water testing.

The first 200 attendees to Pint Night get a commemorative pint glass while the first 100 receive a gift from Keen Footwear and Pack & Paddle. For the suggested $10 donation - it's "suggested" but you should give more ... seriously - guests will enjoy a variety of beers from Bayou Teche Biere and nosh on fare from the Taco Sisters' food truck. Live music will begin with a Cajun jam followed by Mandolin Annie & The Roosters. The event will also feature a silent auction of "Mini Masterpieces" donated by local artists.

So, you know, go to this event.
