Children's Oil Center art show to benefit Healing House

by Leslie Turk

Healing House; Hope for Grieving Children is hosting its fifth annual Art and Soul event today at the Frame Shop and Gallery 912 on Coolidge Boulevard in the Oil Center. A creative opportunity for students to get involved in the community and help children who are experiencing the death of a parent or sibling, the event features artwork donated by Our Lady of Fatima's 2nd graders, Ascension Day School's 3rd graders, and Cathedral Carmel's 1st and 2nd graders.

The parent pre-sale will take place from 3 p.m. from 5 p.m., and the public is encouraged to attend and purchase the children's artwork from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The children will be presenting their art throughout the showing.

Proceeds from the event will help fund the programs of the Healing House, which offers support groups and activities for children of all ages who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. For them, it is a safe place to grieve and is free of charge. For more information about support groups or volunteering, visit its Web site or call 337-234-0443.
