WEST MONROE, La. (AP) — Authorities say an officer was involved in a shooting at a West Monroe convenience store.
Few details were available early Friday about the shooting, including whether the person shot Thursday night was injured or killed. Authorities have not released a name.
Neighborhood resident Laurie Eley describes him to The News-Star as a white Vietnam veteran who had been homeless. She says she knew him only as Keith.
KNOE-TV reports that the shooting occurred at the New Save Pik Pak store south of West Monroe High School.
West Monroe police say the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Louisiana State Police are assisting.
A sheriff’s office spokesman did not immediately return a call Friday from The Associated Press.
