Cydra Wingerter named Durel's new assistant

As Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel embarks on his last year in office, a new assistant has been named to help accomplish his remaining goals for the community.

Cydra Wingerter

That new assistant is Cydra Wingerter, the director of resource development for United Way of Acadiana who played a vital role in the creation of Lafayette’s comprehensive plan, PlanLafayette. Wingerter will replace Carlee Alm-LaBar, who vacated the post in December to become Durel’s chief development officer. Since taking the promotion, Alm-LaBar has been serving in a dual capacity, and will aid in Wingerter’s transition once she assumes her new full-time post starting Feb. 2.

“I am happy to make this appointment and complete my leadership team. Through her volunteer roles during the comprehensive planning process, Cydra has already worked closely in an unofficial capacity with other members of my team, and so this appointment makes sense for the work we have ahead,” says Durel in a statement issued Thursday. “She brings to the table many competencies that are critical in this role and is passionate about Lafayette and wants to make it the best community it can be. I’m especially grateful to Cydra for agreeing to come on board with only a year remaining in my term, and I’m excited because I think that indicates that we all know there is a lot of work left to be done.”
