The Golden Globes are the kick off to the style marathon of the year. If Sunday was any indication we're in for a great year of red carpet style — and a lot of inspiration for all these fantastic Mardi Gras balls on our calendar.

We're highlighting the three most subtle but clear knock outs last night. There were many. From ladies in red to killer cutout dresses we loved a lot on the carpet. But these three style mavens managed to do the classic chic thing in a way that's subtly sexy — a rare feat.

Amal Clooney wore a fantastic Dior dress that's truly timeless and figure flattering for even those without such a svelte shape. The sweeping fabric was classic glam and those white gloves? Just the kind of risk that made this a fashion forward ensemble,

A golden girl can't be beat. Reese Whitherspoon knows this. Her Calvin Klein dress was the perfect fit and hue of gold for her skin tone. Paired with that soft hair and makeup with just a hint of drama and you have the girl next door all glammed up.

Emma Stone's jumpsuit was a well-executed risk for a formal affair. While the jumpsuit is iffy on most, she did it just right thanks to that seriously embellished top and the sash that brought some serious flair to perfectly proportioned pants. Lanvin never looked so fashion forward yet Old Hollywood at once.
