by R. Reese Fuller

FEMA says its on track to close trailer parks in Louisiana by June 1, 2008,  just in time for the hurricane season. The federal agency says that only 20 FEMA parks are still open and that 91 have been closed. "Roughly 1,035 individuals and households continue to reside in FEMA temporary group housing sites, down from over 4,200 in October of 2007." A complete list of scheduled park closures as well as a database of available rental units can be found on FEMA's website.
