JINDAL COMPARES HIS PRAYERPOLOOZA TO GEORGE WASHINGTON
JAN 26 Here's a post on the Crooks and Liars site that takes a look at Jindal's speech at The Response, but also Jindal's appearance on a national news show the Sunday morning after it. When asked by George Stephanopoulos how headlining a rally of one religion in this nation (you know, the one with a Constitution that separates church and state) makes any political sense, Jindal gave an answer that rates a 10 on the "I have no concept of reality at all" meter.

REVEILLE: THE RESPONSE POORLY ATTENDED
JAN 26 The LSU student paper, the Reveille, posts this story on Bobby Jindal's prayer rally this weekend. Many of the seats in the Maravich Assembly Center were empty, the story reports, with attendance not coming close to the arena's 13K capacity. (The Advocate reported that Rolfe McCollister expected in excess of 10K attendees. Guess he was wrong about that, too.)

LOUISIANA REPORTERS TOO BUSY TO TAKE HARVARD'S CALL
JAN 26 Here's an interesting post on the datalab section of fivethirtyeight.com, which takes a look at a Harvard study on political corruption. The team examining corruption by state examined several different measures of corruption (and duh, we scored really high on all of them) but on one, we had no ranking at all. That's because although these Harvard researchers were able to get responses to their surveys from every other state in the union, they didn't get one response from Louisiana's political reporters. Nice!

JAN 26 Blogger Dayne Sherman, guest posting on Louisiana Voice here, is warning that the budget cuts coming won't be pretty. Louisiana higher ed already is stretched as tight as a church lady's girdle, and the cuts coming on top of that reality will bring about a "bayou budget apocalypse."

ALABAMA GUY DEFENDS JINDAL IN THE ADVOCATE
JAN 26 Columnist Quinn Hillyer, who lives in Alabama but writes a column for the Advocate, springs to Bobby Jindal's defense on the issue of no-go zones in this post. Even though the guy who spoke about them on Faux News apologized and recanted, and Faux News apologized and recanted (which almost never happens), Quinn says Bobby is right. K!

NYT WEIGHS IN ON THE MINDEN BURN
JAN 26 The New York Times comments on the planned burn of tons of explosives in this op-ed piece by Charles Blow. Blow, a native of Gibsonville, points out that nobody (except, apparently, the EPA) thinks that setting all that "stuff" on fire is a good idea. Would this even be considered in an area populated by affluent white people?

BERMAN: JINDAL STILL STINKS AT SOTU RESPONSES
JAN 26 Blogger Matt Berman points out an unfortunate repetition of history in Bobby Jindal's bone-headed tweet last week. (It was the "your" heard round the world...) Jindal blew the Republican response to the State of the Union years ago (there's a video here, if you've forgotten and have the intestinal fortitude) and he's still bungling, Berman writes.
Monday's Blogs from the Bog!
Bobby compares prayerpolooza to George Washington. (Um.... K.) Dayne Sherman warns of a budget apocalypse and the NYT weighs in on that loopy burn the EPA is planning up in Minden.
