Beginning today, the Cinema on the Bayou film festival will showcase documentaries about Louisiana and the South at locations throughout Acadiana. The third annual event kicks off tonight at the Celebrity Theatre in Broussard with a screening of Gypsy Caravan, a documentary film about a group of Gypsy musicians touring North America.

Renowned filmmaker Robert Mugge will also premier his latest work on New Orleans' Soul Queen Irma Thomas, titled Blues Divas: Irma Thomas. Mugge has shot over 25 films, including Kingdom of Zydeco, New Orleans Music in Exile and Deep Blues, which will also be shown at the festival.
