FEB 4 In light of recent (ahem) viral developments, this old post has continued interest. It's an essay by New Zealand writer Rakesh Krishnan, and it's about why Bobby Jindal wants to be white, and it was written almost three years ago. It has some prophetic moments, especially when Krishnan predicts that Jindal will "introduce a nausea-inducing neocon spin into mainstream American politics that will make Reagan look like a socialist in comparison." Huh.

FEB 4 This post on Edushyster is a Q&A with education blogger Mercedes Schneider, who since The Lens has been gutted is the only person out there truly covering the "reform" movement in the state Department of Education. She's been able to dig up data that John White wanted concealed, and that's cool, but another important aspect of this development is the first question Edushyster asks: Why haven't the Baton Rouge and New Orleans media done a doggone thing about this?

LEGISLATOR PLANS BILLS TO 'RE-ESTABLISH' LEGISLATURE
FEB 4 Here's another viewpoint on the abject failure of our executive and legislative branches: blogger Tom Aswell posts an interview with a legislator from Thibodaux who plans to introduce some bills to 're-establish' the Legislature. The bills might not gain too much traction during the upcoming session, though, because won't this require our legislators to do some actual work?

ANOTHER THEORY ABOUT THAT BONEHEADED CALL
FEB 4 Blogger Ian McGibboney has his own theory about the last-second call by Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll that switched from an expected hand off to an intercepted pass, and the loss. No conspiracy theories here; in fact, Ian's philosophy is more in line with the Sicilian from Princess Bride.

CB CALLS BS ON THE OIL PRICE STORY
FEB 4 When the price of oil dropped, you could almost hear the legislators exhale across Louisiana. Why? Because now they can try to blame oil prices for the chickens coming home to roost on their years of poor (OK, criminally stupid) budgeting policies. Blogger CB Forgotston takes our "leaders" to task for that in this post. The state doesn't have a revenue problem, he says, it has a spending problem.

FEB 4 So this is what we get to look forward to, when Sen. David "Pampers" Vitter leaves his Senate seat to try to take over for Bobby "Please leave a message I'm in Iowa" Jindal? Jeremy Alford is blogging about who is making noises to replace Dave, and so far we're looking at John "I think it is 1952" Fleming and Vance "Wait, you're not my wife!" McAllister. Call us when it's over.
Wednesday's Blogs from the Bog!
Mais, what's wrong with brown? As Lamar's tweet of Bobby Jindal's whitewashed (and fave) portrait goes viral, here's a look back at an essay on that issue. Also today, CB calls BS on the oil slump story and Ian has a theory on that Seattle call.
