Festival International releases 2015 lineup

Festival International de Louisiane has released its 2015 lineup, with a diverse group of headliners including the return of Anjélique Kidjo.

Festival International de Louisiane has released its 2015 lineup, with a diverse group of headliners including the return of Anjélque Kidjo.

Kidjo is a Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter from Benin, Africa, who has been described by Time magazine as “Africa’s premier diva.” Her sound blends Afropop, jazz, reggae and gospel with rock and R&B. She also sings in four different languages, including French, Fon, English and Yorùbá.

Other headliners at this year’s Fest include Lafayette’s GIVERS, Buckwheat’s World featuring Buckwheat Zydeco, Ukrainian folk-punkers DakhaBrakha, the MarchFourth Marching Band out of Portland (one of the most requested acts in Festival history) and Quebec’s Nomadic Massive.

Sub-headliners include JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, Vieux Farka Touré, Noura Mint Seymali, Groupto Fantasma, Jon Cleary, Tal National, Aurelio Martinez, Lisa LeBlanc, The Jones Family Band Singers, Lagbaja, Kinobe & the Wamu Spirit and Cambalache.

This year’s Fest will also include a number of Louisiana and local acts, including Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience, Roddie Romero & the Hub City All-Stars, Lil Nathan & the Zydeco Big Timers, Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers, Bonsoir Catin, the Lost Bayou Ramblers, Brass Bed, Feufollet, Soul Creole, Sunny Duval, Bas Clas, Jeffery Broussard Family Band, Cedric Watson & the Mad Minstrels, Connie G, Leroy Thomas & the Zydeco Roadrunners, Corey Ledet & his Zydeco Band, Kevin Sekhani & His Traveling Companions, Sassafras Jubilee and the Figs.
