Hoarders are an interesting breed, and that was literally the case for one Acadiana man, who’d amassed a collection of nearly 40 dogs inside his St. Martin Parish home.
For the most part, the dogs were all well-cared for, and all had names, but according to this report from KATC TV3, it had become too much and the family recently reached out to local animal shelters for help.
“He loved his dogs,” Shannon Hagan, a shelter volunteer and pet foster, tells KATC. “He didn’t understand what it took to [take] care of those dogs.”
And according to Sue Brignac of St. Martin Parish Animal Services, this case is not atypical, and like previous cases, all the dogs showed affection to their owner.
“They’re friendly. They’ve been handled. They’ve been cared for,” Brignac says of the animals taken in from hoarding cases.
