FEB 11 Here's an article in the Picayune about the only redeeming event on the Baton Rouge social calendar - the Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade. The intrepid reporter wonders -- is it too raunchy for Baton Rouge? His issue? Apparently, there are men dressed like women there! Horrors! (A drag queen at a Mardi Gras parade. Yeah, that's never happened before) Where on Earth did they find this guy?

MEMO TO WOODHOUSE: THIS ONE IS SATIRE, TOO
FEB 11 Here's another post on the Red Shtick which might fool as many people as the last post, which fooled even the former communications director of the DNC. In this one, Baton Rouge's satire site gives us Bobby Jindal's speaking engagement requirements - including "a generous suspension of disbelief" and a special requirement for M&Ms.

FEB 11 This post on the New York Times maps out lynchings, by parish/county, since the mid-19th century. The county with the most lynchings is in Arkansas. The next four parishes are in Louisiana. The accompanying story tells of the study that examined this dark and terrible part of our history.

FEB 11 OK, so this one has nothing to do with Louisiana or our politics, but sometimes there is a tragedy of such momentous proportions it requires a deviation from the norm. As is reported in this post on WaPo, Jon Stewart is leaving the Daily Show. The guy who gave us more trusted "news" than the alleged journalists (we looking at you, BriWi) is hanging it up. To quote a friend, "The joy has gone out of the world." :-(

HEY, THIS COULD EXPLAIN THE BUDGET ISSUE
FEB 11 Bobby Jindal apparently still has not learned that, in the national media anyway, you don't get to write the script. On MSNBC's Morning Joe, he was asked a simple question - how much does it cost to attend LSU? He thought that it was "well under $10,000" for tuition and housing. Anybody with kids there knows that's insane - it's more than $20K. But that sure explains why we have a budget deficit - don't it?

FEB 11 So Rand Paul endorsed David Vitter in the governor's race, this post on USA Today's politics blog reports. He says, among other absurdities, that Vitter will bring "knowledge and experience to the governor's seat." Listen, we don't want to tell anybody their business, but given his 'history' maybe you guys don't want to bring his "seat" into the conversation.
Wednesday's Blogs from the Bog!
A reporter at the Picayune seems worried about the drag queens in Baton Rouge's only good Mardi Gras Parade. Where they found this guy??
