FEB 25 This story on Voactiv takes a look at the members of our esteemed Congress who spend the least amount of time doing what they are paid to do - vote. Of all the Senators, our own David Vitter posts the sixth-highest rate of vote-missing. (A politician who's never around to do the work taxpayers pay him for. That reminds us of someone. Who is that? Hmm... No, don't remind us, we've almost got it...)

JINDAL ALONG FOR THE RIDE AS PERKINS TAKES HIS CRAZY ON THE ROAD
FEB 25 When Tony Perkins takes his hate-fest on the road to Israel this fall, our Bobby Jindal will be along for the ride, the Picayune reports here. Also participating in the $5k-a-spot trip is Rick Santorum. Wow - self-righteousness and hate in the Holy Land. Where do we sign up?

PAYING EXTRA FOR THE SHORT END OF THE STICK
FEB 25 Lee Zurik continues his excellent series examining Louisiana's tax incentive and credit program with this post about the types of jobs created by these hand-outs. Looks like we're rewarding companies for creating jobs that put our families below the poverty line. Nice!

FEB 25 This is a pretty cool story about a Courir de Mardi Gras on the Al Jazeera website. What's really nice is the absence of the usual cliched approach to writing about our culture. The photos are something to see, as well.

OH, MAN, THAT WOULD BE A TRAGEDY
FEB 25 Here's a bit of hand-wringing in the Advocate from state Superintendent of Education John White about budget cuts that could come to his department. The Governor's people say he's going to have to cut his budget generally (Hey JW, how about dumping some of those yankee hipsters who don't do anything because they're not qualified to do anything? There's an idea - you can have it for free.) and White says he's heard the Governor will be cutting standardized testing specifically. Either way - is this a bad thing?

FEB 25 Are you missing Mardi Gras already? So are we, so here's a story in the Guardian about the female side of Carnival. There's some history, some gossipy bits and some politics. And some awesome images, of course!
Wednesday's Blogs from the Bog!
It's probably easier to find Waldo than it is to find David Vitter at work in DC! Also today in La La Land, looking back at Mardi Gras and how come we're paying extra for the short end of the stick?
