UL taking wait-and-see approach to budget


UL President Joseph Savoie, in a memo to faculty and staff — a copy of which was posted to his blog — says it’s “early in the budget adoption program” and there remains “a way to go before we ill know the final amount of financial support that we will have from the state...”

Gov. Bobby Jindal released his executive budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year to lawmakers Friday morning. It proposes cutting $143 million in funding to Louisiana higher ed — an amount that is much lower than the anticipated $400+ million university leaders anticipated.
