Many colleges and universities agree that $2,000 is what students and their families will pay in the form of an “excellence fee” proposed by Gov. Bobby Jindal’s administration, according to a story posted at Nola.com.

How that fee would be paid — in one semester or in two — or whether it would vary from institution to institution. Kristy Nichols, Jindal’s budget chief, also pegged the fee at $2,000 last week when she presented a budget overview to state lawmakers.
