Fest Focus: Cones of Uncertainty

One of the biggest surprises to be featured on this year’s lineup is local earsplitting badasses Cones of Uncertainty — surprising because the band is perhaps more suited to a dank, smoky bar than the middle of the day in the great outdoors. But hey, that’s why we love Festival.

Fusing together traditional rock music with elements of jazz, punk and psychedelia, Cones of Uncertainty are perhaps the most explosive hidden gem to be found in Lafayette. The band takes its name from the projected path of hurricanes that often strike fear in the hearts of locals. It’s oddly fitting, as like the chaos and power of a hurricane, their music has the ability to shake a person to their core and destroy all preconceived notions of normalcy. It’s truly a spectacle that cannot be missed if you are looking for something a little freaky on the lineup this year. Don’t be too afraid however. Their sound may be brash to some, but it is a structured, calculated impressive thrust of musical energy. Just leave your grandma at the Fais-Do-Do stage. Embrace the darkness, and enter the Cones of Uncertainty.

Cones of Uncertainty will be performing on the LUS LA Craft Biergarden stage from 12:45-1:45 p.m. on April 26.
