Alford: Angelle targeted early in race

Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle has been the most consistent target of his fellow candidates for governor, according to an account posted Tuesday by Louisiana political journalist and IND contributor Jeremy Alford.

The barbs began with Democratic state Rep. John Bel Edwards’ campaign running anti-Angelle ads on black radio stations linking Angelle to Gov. Bobby Jindal, who has appointed Angelle to a number of high posts during his two terms in office. But fellow Republican Sen. David Vitter even took a swipe at Angelle at a recent forum hosted by the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association — a swipe that Angelle was quick to return.
