NEW ORLEANS (AP) — An offshore oilfield worker has been sentenced to 3 years' probation and a $3,000 fine in U.S. District Court in New Orleans for tampering with blowout preventer testing records.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite said in a news release 36-year-old Sean Granger, of Rayne, was a coil tubing supervisor working on a drilling rig located at Ship Shoal 359 in the Gulf of Mexico on June 4, 2012, when he tampered with the results recorded on a circular graphic pressure test chart.

Granger was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Sarah Vance.

Federal officials did not provide the name of the owner of the drilling rig or the well.
