In Cleco's southern district, Steven Segura has been named manager of customer and community services, Ron Albarado as manager of distribution engineering and Dan Smith as manager of distribution operations. George Comeaux was named general manager.

Lafayette Airport Commission named former KATC TV-3 reporter Melissa Newell as marketing director.

Sarah Berthelot recently joined United Way of Acadiana as director of community development. Maria Garcia, formerly with Lafayette Catholic Service Centers, replaced Berthelot as community relations and education coordinator at The Family Tree, Counseling, Education and Information Center.

KLFY-TV 10 welcomes Chief Meteorologist Ryan Burchett to its weather team. KLFY also received several honors at the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters Annual Prestige Awards. Maria Placer was named Louisiana's Broadcaster of the Year, Don Fontenot received the Distinguished Service award, and the station took home the Community Service Year-Long Effort Award.

Lindsey Trahan has joined Right Angle as account executive and media planner.

Lafayette Parish Bar Association President-elect Kenny L. Oliver and association Executive Director Susan Holliday participated in the American Bar Association's Bar Leadership Institute.

The Society of Louisiana CPAs selected Craig C. LeBouef and Kolette L. McDowell to become CPA ambassadors. A History of Rice in Crowley, a video produced for the city of Crowley, won a national Telly Award.

Rodney Schmidt, a representative of Allstate Insurance, was recognized at Allstate's Chairman's Conference for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and financial service sales.

Robert E. Trahan, president/dealer of Lafayette Motor Co. Inc., received the 2005 TIME Magazine Quality Dealer Award.

The Kiwanis Club of Acadiana received many honors at its district Mid-Winter Conference, including the top honor of the Distinguished Club Award. Kiwanis also took home the Governor's Award, District Growth Award, Sponsored Youth Award, Administrative Honor Award, Governor's Project Award and Annual Report Contest. Kiwanis Acadiana President Richard Latiolais received the Distinguished Kiwanian Award.

GOOD DEEDS

The Lafayette branch office of Smith Barney donated $3,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Acadiana and $9,000 to the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum.
