Coldwell Banker Pelican Real Estate confirmed Wednesday morning that Steven P. Hebert, who has served as the firm’s chief operating officer since 2001, is leaving the company for an opportunity with another local real estate group.

Coldwell did not say where Hebert is headed, and Hebert himself told ABiz he was not ready to disclose the name of the firm. “It is another real estate firm, but it’s not in the brokerage business,” he says. Hebert says his new company has not yet shared the information with its own staff but will likely make the announcement later Wednesday. After that, he will be able to discuss the opportunity.

Hebert tells ABiz the in-depth market research he headed at Coldwell will likely stay with Coldwell.

Coldwell has been in the market since 1976 with the backing of a national franchise, Coldwell Banker Pelican.

“While Hebert will certainly be missed, the management team that remains in place at Coldwell Banker Pelican, including Broker/Owner Steve Thomson, Commercial Division Manager Ken Simeral, Real Estate Coach Hope Kidder and Operations Manager Liz Guidry, holds decades of real estate experience to continue the company’s smooth operations,” the company said in a written statement.

“The prospect of a new leader with a passion for real estate and innovative ideas who will lead the company into the next chapter of growth is exciting,” Thomson says in the statement. “We wish Steven well in his future endeavors.”

The firm is searching for a new COO and expects to make an announcement about Hebert’s replacement in the coming weeks.
