PARTY GIRL

The American Heart Association’s annual luncheon for ladies was a heartfelt affair. The effort to stop the No. 1 killer of women brought out inspiring guest speakers like former Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Kitty Kimball, who survived a stroke, and Kristen Simpson, whose family founded Living 4 Burke to prevent sudden cardiac arrest after her young nephew died at school, as well as local fitness and nutrition expert Dawn Foreman. The crowd was full of beautiful ladies in red from Sharon Moss and her crew of gorgeous gals — Moss herself dubbed pal and INDStyle maven Angela Cole the fairest of them all with a sash acknowledging her embodiment of all that is Go Red. That’s style with heart.

The folks at Partners’ LTD had a swank but casual gathering to celebrate the new digs in Parc Lafayette. The building, owned by the Usie clan for its men’s and women’s clothing store, looks like a vision for the future with a spacious vibe, new brands and what may be a new era for the store (previously located on Arnould Boulevard). We caught up with tie designer Geoff Nicholson, who flew out from California for the shindig and schooled us on the makings of fine menswear accessories — keep an eye out for new cottons, linens and light-hearted prints in neckwear. The always dapper Stephen Barker was on hand, and we spotted a bevy of well-dressed gals checking out the latest pieces offered on the ladies’ side along with a selection of beautiful beauty items from uber cool brand Butter.

Shoe La La walked on over to a spacious new spot in Parc Lafayette recently after years on Main Street in River Ranch. The beloved home to forward-looking footwear has added new style-worthy options to the lineup. With fresh brands and more merchandise of the clothing variety, the store — under the new ownership of Beth Barber and Tiffany Chiasson — has also added men’s shoes and expanded the oncesmall collection of shoes for children. From its sparkling pink desk to fresh Shoe La La custom fragrance candles, the space is a refreshing spot for trending clothing. On its grand opening night, it was a place for strawberries in bubbly and a celebration of the future.
