OBSERVER ON JINDAL'S DISASTROUS GOVERNORSHIP
MAY 5 This post on the Observer has an interesting take on Bobby Jindal: he's like Superman. Superman's alter ego, Clark Kent, represented his view of humans/Earthlings, the author opines. Bobby is similar in that he's created this alter ego that reflects his view of voters, and it ain't a compliment. It's a pretty devastating analysis of Jindal's view of Louisiana as a stepping stone, nothing more.

MAY 5 This story in the Advocate is an example of a picture being worth a thousand words - it's an aerial shot of Elton John's performance at Jazz Fest this past weekend. The size of the crowd is just plain scary - and the story that follows the image gets into security concerns surrounding the increasing size of the festival. A lot of it has to do with those jerks who set up their chairs in the traffic and standing areas, but it's also about a lack of enforcement.

BLOOMBERG CALLS BOBBY ON TAX BREAKS
MAY 5 Bloomberg posts this analysis of Bobby Jindal's entertainment tax creds. The headline makes the point that Bobby's ready to shut down our public universities but won't touch the massive tax credits handed out to Duck Dynasty millionaires and similar "projects." It is interesting that the article quotes both Scott McKay and Jeff Saddow as if they are legitimate Republican pundits.

MAY 5 Here's an interesting 7-minute vid on YouTube that breaks down the Louisiana fiscal crisis for you. There are lots of charts and numbers, and it is explained in a very clear way. Of course, the creators could just save us those seven minutes by posting a picture of Bobby Jindal, but hey, this is good too.

NYT'S INTERACTIVE MAP ON OUTCOMES FOR KIDS
MAY 5 This post on the New York Times is one of those interactive maps the paper has been doing that puts piles of statistics into more palatable format. This one looks at income mobility for children - in other words, how much a child's financial status can change as they grow up, based on where they live. Lafayette ain't doing so good.

USING THOSE PLASTIC BAGS TO HELP THE HOMELESS
MAY 5 This story in the St. Charles newspaper is about a Luling man who collects plastic bags and makes sleeping mats for the homeless with them. Later this month, he's hosting an event at a local church where others can learn how to convert those annoying bags into something that can help a homeless person.
Tuesday's Blogs from the Bog!
The Observer says Bobby Jindal's like Superman - he thinks we're weak and dumb, too. Also today we have a scary picture of Jazz Fest and there's a guy in Luling who wants to show you what to do with all those plastic grocery bags.
