THE OTHER ADVOCATE ON LGBTS IN LOUISIANA
MAY 6 The Advocate, a well-known and long-standing publication focusing on LGBT issues, posts this op-ed about Louisiana and Bobby Jindal. It's written by an LSU Law student, and it objects to Jindal's claim that religion is under attack. On the contrary, Kyle Alagood writes: it is the existence of LGBT folk which is under attack.

MAY 6 This Advocate story is kind of entertaining on a number of levels. First, the lede talks about David Vitter praising Chris Christie, despite the "cloud of controversy" over the New Jersy Governor. (A bridge trumps a hooker? Really?) Also, Vitter is saying Christie is a "mentor." (So we can expect that style of governing from Vitter? K.) And lastly, is Vitter saying all that because Christie is the only GOP candidate who will be photographed with ole Dave?

This post on the Baton Rouge Business Report indicates the welcome center near the Capitol is earmarked for sale by the administration.

MAY 6 Blogger Tom Aswell, who seems to be single-handedly challenging the Jindal administration's concealment of public records in court, gives us an update in this post. Seems the Department of Administration still isn't complying with the law, he says.

WOOT! THE SENATE FOUND SOME STONES!
MAY 6 When you read this one, you might find yourself checking to make sure it's not on a satire site. The state Senate has backed limits on the governor's ability to conceal public records from the public what owns them, the AP reports here. Wow - this might be about seven years too late, but at least it's here!

MAY 6 Here's a nice story from the NOLA Defender about an off-duty firefighter who pulled two people out of a burning house in Marigny. He had to crawl upstairs to find them, where they were disoriented already from smoke, the story reports.
Thursday's Blogs from the Bog!
We've got an editorial about LGBT existence in Louisiana in the "other" Advocate, an update from Aswell on his constant battle for public records and Bobby's selling off our stuff. Again.
