Brass Bed CD release tonight at Blue Moon

by Nathan Stubbs

Brass beds are known for being solid, well polished and modish. Taking its name from a Bob Dylan lyric, the Lafayette indie rock outfit Brass Bed is no exception. The group has built a loyal local following since originally forming as a recording project in 2004 and has recently been booked for high-profile gigs such as Voodoo Fest and this year’s Festival International. Often drawing comparisons to psychedelic pop rock bands like The Flaming Lips and Built to Spill, Brass Bed bring bright piano melodies, subtle pedal steel and banjo, and the occasional horns in a rich repertoire of material. The group releases its new CD, Midnight Matinee, and kicks off a new string of tour dates with a show tonight at The Blue Moon with opening acts The Amazing Nuns and Hungry Hungry.
