IAN'S THOUGHTS ON MEMORIAL DAY
MAY 27 A lot of people spent Memorial Day scouring Facebook for people who made the mistake of thanking veterans for their service and browbeating them with high-handed shut downs. (Memorial Day is for DEAD veterans! How dare you thank the living ones!) But blogger Ian McGibboney has some thoughts about judging others on Memorial Day, based on his WWII veteran grandfather's approach to life.

SO WE'RE ENDURING THIS HUMILIATION FOR NOTHING?
MAY 27 It's clear that Bobby Jindal's doing his damnedest (No pun intended. Well, maybe so) to pander to the evangelical section of the GOP, a wave which he (apparently) believes he can ride into the White House. But that doesn't seem to be working, this post on NOLA Defender tells us: Bobby made an appearance at a recent SRLC shindig and didn't make a dent in the poll.

MANN ON THE STORY JINDAL'S SELLING
MAY 27 Blogger Bob Mann isn't usually too sarcastic, but in this post it's dripping. He's taking a look at what Bobby Jindal is telling the rest of the nation about how Louisiana's economic picture stands. (Hint: Bobby says it's hunky dory. Bob, like the rest of us, thinks he might disagree.)

CB ON SOME LEGISLATIVE SHENANIGANS
MAY 27 Blogger CB Forgotston gives us his description of a discussion in the House last week. Apparently someone asked Jim Fannin, chair of House Appropriations, for the percentage of federal funds in the budget, whereupon Mr. Fannin "hemmed and hawed as if he was being asked to explain the Theory of Relativity."

SO HE'S PANDERING TO CAJUNS NOW?
MAY 27 Blogger Tom Aswell comments here upon the (bizarre? inexplicable?) use of the word "Cajun" to describe Piyush Jindal, our governor, the Indian-American, the guy who is a lot of things, and none of them Cajun. Granted, the word was used in the Washington Examiner, which is not exactly a pillar of journalism, but still -- what the heck??

MAY 27 If you've got any swampland in Arizona to unload, get on over to Salon, because there's a bunch of Pollyannas over there who might fall for it. This post on the magazine says Bobby Jindal has reached "peak stupid" and we all know there's more where that came from... Seriously, though, this is a scathing indictment of Bobby Jindal's sabotage of his own political career by pandering to the lowest common denominator.

MAY 27 Here's the difficulty with having a guy like Bobby Jindal in the governor's mansion -- it gets hard to distinguish the satire from the reality. This post on the New Yorker by Andy Borowitz fooled a lot of smart people this past weekend, who thought his satirical story about Jindal was real.
Wednesday's Blogs from the Bog!
Ian has some thoughts about his grandfather and Memorial Day; Aswell is not buying Jindal as the "Cajun Crusader;" and CB has another tale of legislative shenanigans.
