Last-minute Father’s Day FINDs

by Stephanie Turk

Lafayette has tons of choices for dad this year, but we found just the right mix at kiki.

It’s three days till Father’s Day, and if you’re anything like me, a slight feeling of panic may be setting in. What to get? Where to buy? (Not to mention how much a college kid can afford to spend).

A quick stop at kiki in River Ranch may be your best bet at this late hour — personally, I think I hit the Father’s Day jackpot.

Now you’re probably thinking the store really isn’t the ideal Father’s Day one-stop shop because of its reputation for carrying all things female, like its assortment of perfumes, jewelry, purses, clothes and, more recently, shoes. But this year, you’d be wrong.

One of my personal favorites — and the one my dad will get this year — is the High Levee Calls Cocobolo Duck call ($35). These duck calls are handmade by a family of young boys with the help of their sister and mom; the wooden calls are artfully crafted and wrapped in the cutest brown boxes with a stamped logo. It is the ideal gift for the outdoorsy dad (like mine).

A couple of other items to consider are the Cocodri alligator flask ($350) and Craft Cocktails Book ($50). The flask is elegant, and the book has a great selection of eclectic recipes. Some of the most eye-catching gifts are the Porter Lyons sterling silver cufflinks ($295) and Bazzel Alligator Belt Buckle ($350). These two pieces, both made in New Orleans, are perfect for the stylish and cool dad (unlike mine!).
